I Remember...

A Good Old Memory
By Lim Min Kyoung

I remember the time of my youth.
I remember picking a pear from the pear tree
in the garden behind my house.
I remember swimming in the brook with my sister.
My sister taught me how to swim.
But most of all,
I remember playing jump rope with an elastic cord all night long.

My First Love
By Choi Jung An ("Cathy")

I remember my heart being broken
when I began my university life.
My heart felt love,
but the love hurt me.
He was bright, smart, and honest.
I remember his joining the army.
I was very sad just because we would be separated.
My love still continues.
But most of all,
I remember the day we confessed our love for each other.

The Small Stone
By Cha Jong-In ("Harris")

I remember my first love lived near my house when I was eleven years old.
She always walked on the beach to pick up small stones, and I stood near her.
I knew her, but she didn't know me.

I remember stealing a glance at her every day and night, but not saying anything to her.
I always walked on the beach to pick up small stones to give her, and I had mingled feelings of joy and sorrow.
I knew her, but she didn't know me.

I remember the small stone I gripped in my hand on the day she moved.
I thought that it would be the last time for me to see her face, so I pictured her face again and again.
I knew her, but she didn't know me.

But most of all,
I remember her footprints left on the beach.

My First Love
By Kim Youn Wook ("Kate")

I remember my first love in my college days.
When I met him, both of us were freshmen in the same course.
His character was diametrically opposed to mine.
Our different characters caused us to fall in love,
but on the other hand it caused our parting, too.
We always quarreled with each other about trifles,
but we loved each other very much.
When I think of it now,
we were still just immature youths with a superficial view of love then.
But most of all,
I remember our pure passion of blind love at that time.

My Childhood in the Country
By Lee Eun Ok ("Jasmin")

I remember birds singing in the trees for me.
I remember the breeze blowing across the mountain to the village.
I remember the smell of herbs coming across the hill with the breeze.
I remember looking at the starry night sky with my friend from the hill.
But most of all,
I remember the warm hearts of the people like spring sunshine.

My First Love
By Bang Bo-dun ("Sunny")

I remember this time last year
When I fell in love for the first time.
He was one year younger than I,
But behaved like a man, dignified.
I was charmed by his figure.
March 14th last year,
I received sweet candy, perfume, and earrings as a gift.
And we talked about various subjects on the bench.
I can't express how happy I was then.
But he is only a memory to me now.
He's gone.
But most of all,
His memory is enshrined in my heart.

Travel
By Choi Eun-Young

I remember going to the sea with my friends.
We went out in the extremely cold winter.
When we arrived, the sun was rising to the sky.
The rising sun tinged the sky and the sea with a rosy flush.
In spite of the cold wind, we took many pictures
and ate delicious sliced raw fish.
Most of all, I remember
Our friendship was strengthened through this travel.

My Pretty Puppy
By Jun Hee Kyoung ("Susan")

I remember my grade school days
When I spent time with my lovely dog.
My puppy was quite tame with me.
We had time to walk for exercise.
My puppy looked like a bear,
But it was pretty and lovely.
But most of all, I remember my puppy was brimming with smiles.

Pride in My Sister, Hwa Young
By Kim Hwa Jung (Shouka")

I remember
many teachers' praise for my sister's athletic skills.
Because of her ability,
she was chosen as a member of the 14th ABC championship junior basketball team,
and she became a player for the Hyundai professional team.
I was very proud of her.
But last year
My sister had to have surgery because of her injured knee.
She has had a very difficult time.
I have already seen her persevere in her efforts.
But most of all,
I remember that she overcame her crisis situation
when women's basketball teams were eliminated
during the IMF times.
Her knee is getting better now,
and she'll also overcome this difficult time.
I believe in her strong will.

My Memories of the Mountains
By Choi Oh-Nam ("Lewis")

I remember climbing the beautiful mountains.
I remember the breezes blowing from the valleys.
I remember the yellow, red, and brown leaves.
The fresh stream will always be in my memories.
I remember tiny birds up in the trees.
I remember tiny birds singing merrily.
I remember tiny birds flying freely.
They will always be in my memories.
But most of all,
I remember the deep, blue skies in the mountains.

My First Love
By Bae Ju-Eun ("Kaylin")

I remember when I was a kindergarten student.
I doted on my classmate boy.
I think I was pure then.
I can't remember his face, his name, or his voice.
I just remember he was very shy.
But he didn't recognize my existence,
And he loved my friend.
He left me.
But most of all,
It was my valuable memory.

The Dog...
By Choi Ha-young ("Helen")

I remember the dog in my grandparents' front yard.
The dog was very big.
Sometimes, I rode him and slept with him.
I remember the days that I slept in the dog house with him,
when my mom scolded me.
But mot of all,
I remember the day that the dog died.
I hurt my arm because he bit me.
He was killed by my grandfather in front of me.
And that event made me not like dogs any more…

That Saturday
By Han Su Youn ("Ann")

I remember that Saturday in April when I was a high school student.
I remember walking along the river,
I remember riding a bicycle,
I remember enjoying the cool air.
On that Saturday, I was as happy as a queen.
But most of all, I remember
In the seventh heaven, I was not alone.
I had a lovely time together with my old friends.

Studying Hard
By Yoo Se Kyun ("Ted")

I remember studying hard in high school days.
I studied 10 hours every day.
I experienced hard times in my young days.
But I had to study because I had to go to a university.
In Korea, all high school students give up their individual character.
But most of all, I remember I failed my first exam.

My First Love
By Hong Ji Eun

I remember my first love.
When I met him in winter,
He was romantic, handsome, and very kind.
We were happy
because we loved each other.
I miss him and those beautiful days.
But most of all,
I remember the day when he made a declaration of love
with a beautiful love song.

My Good Parents
By Yoo Se Kyun ("Ted")

I remember being taken care of by my parents.
They gave me all that they have.
Their money, power, life, time, love, and so on.
How can I repay their kindness?
But most of all, I remember when I escaped from the dentist.
My mom said to me, "Delicious candy, come here baby."

She Was All I Ever Had
By Kim Jinhwan ("Randy")

I remember the day I met my first love.
She wore black jeans and a white jacket on January 5th.
We kept making good memories until we had to separate.
I remember how I could make her happy.
She was happy when I waited for her at the subway station near her house at night.
She was happy when I whispered, "I love you," in her ear and kissed her.
I remember what she liked and disliked.
She liked to see movies, kiss my cheek, and be together with me all day long.
She disliked being alone, writing a letter, and going swimming.
But most of all...
I remember her tears when she took the airplane to China on February 22nd.

Beautiful Ildong
By Lee Jung Hee

I remember my beautiful hometown, Ildong.
In spring, there was green grass, blue sky, and yellow butterflies.
In summer, there was clear water, cool wind, and hot sunshine.
In fall, there were fallen leaves, yellow waves of rice, and red dragon-flies.
In winter, there was white snow, bones of trees, and cold wind.
Ildong was in nature, so I loved this town.
But most of all, I remember
playing naked with my friends in a small stream in summer.

Mountain Covered with Snow
By Kim Changhoon

By Shin Chang Bum ("Charly")

It give me joy during my hard life.
My father is always taciturn.
But he wrote a lot of words in that letter.
He asked about me and my military life.
But most of all
I remember the words "To my beloved son" that were written at the bottom of
the letter.

First Love
By Kim Jin-il

I remember the fresh morning
When I met her for the first time.

When I had to say goodnight.
But most of all,
I remember her smile which captivated me.
