A member of a movie distributing company found Sim Hyung Rae as he was preparing to take a trip abroad and asked him, "Where are you going Mr.Sim?"
        "To sell my film."
"What? You're going to sell your film? You're kidding."

There are many great people in the world, and people are unstinting in their efforts to admire these people. Sim Hyung Rae is such a person for me.
In the 1980s, Sim was famous as a comedian but now he has become the greatest movie director and producer in Korea. His company "09 Art Movie" is the movie company that represents Korea in the world movie market. But no one expected his success. Because Sim was regarded as just a fool who made many people laugh, he was easily ignored by the Korean movie industry. At that time in the early 1990s, the Korean movie industry's techniques were very unsatisfactory. But Sim was not just a stupid person.
In the early 1990s, when Sim started to produce a film about dinosaurs, there weren't any skillful special effects in Korea. So he studied and developed his own techniques so he would not have to depend on others. With this effort, he produced a film. But his movie, The Toenails of Dinosaurs that cost 2.4 billion won and bankrupted his company, was destroyed by Jurassic Park, because his skill and capital were very weak compared with the American companies. This failure was a very great shock that he couldn't bear. He did his best, but above all, he couldn't endure contempt from other people who expected he would fail. He felt frustrated, but he didn't give up. He thought it was not over. He had just passed one step. He admitted his failure and saw Jurassic Park. After that, he understood what he did wrong and his insufficiency. He thought if he were the audience, he wouldn't want to see his movie either. With this pain he restarted.
In the middle of the 1990s, he produced two films, Power King and Dragon Tooca, with his own skill. These movies were better, and he exported them to other Asian and European countries. Among these movies, Power King earned 130 million dollars, and that sum was the largest recorded amount of that year. He used what he learned from his great failure. But there were some problems in dramatic interpretations, special effects, and computer graphics, too.
Finally in 1998, he made Yonggary. Yonggary, a science-fiction movie about a monster, is the fruit of much labor. Due to all of his effects, Mr. Sim could make a magnificent 3-D film. Unlike his other movies, this technique made it popular. With this movie, even before opening, he got 2.72 million dollars at the Cannes Film Festival. The Korean movie industry took off just because of this one movie. Now Korean movies could be exported to the world market.
"Mr. Sim, you did it!" Nowadays, many people say things like this.
All people ignored him. All people said that it was impossible for him to succeed.  Yes, he had failed. He had felt frustrated. But he didn't give up and, in the end, he achieved his dream.
