"The Internet world." We can easily hear about that wherever we go nowadays. But computers and the Internet are not omnipotent machines. Nowadays, so many people are using computers despite the fact that they give us many negative effects and make us superficial. As the use of computers has increased, so has their criminal misuse. Computers are used to break into government homepages and spoil them. Important information is then used to order millions of won worth of whatever the hacker want.
Korea has become largely a computer society. Everyone is at risk, experts say, and they should protect information about themselves, such a credit card numbers, important information about companies, top secrets, etc. Computer crimes have become a large, intellectual and prevalent issue as well. There is more value to criminally gain and more is risked by hackers. Hackers usually steal data, cause data loss, and incapacitate public offices. Another form of computer crime that you might not think of is software piracy. Software piracy is making unauthorized copies of software, which is a violation of the copyright law. Also, pirated software causes loss to software companies. But I think most Koreans seem unaware that purchasing it is illegal. A bigger problem is that we can't find and arrest hackers in cyber space.
In Korea, about three month ago, some company was attacked by an anonymous hacker. Also, a teenage hacker in Seattle was arrested by the police for stealing credit card numbers by computer. If people use credit cards, chances are a determined hacker can learn their financial secrets. All of this shows the different ways people cause computers to hack into other computers, and everyone can be a victim of hacking.
The hackers will become so much more technologically advanced compared to people who are trying to stop them that their threat will be overwhelming. They use computers as a weapon for their profit. These are just a few of the computer crimes that have happened in the world in the past. The computer crimes are going to continue to grow, and if something is not done about it hackers will not be able to be stopped. We must realize that cyber crime may attack us when unexpected. Also, the government should make a new law to protect us from the cyber crimes. First, this law should define what a hacker is and how to stop hackers' attacks. Last, it should specify what kind of punishment will be given to them if they break the law. But the most important thing that we must keep in mind is that cyber crime is stealing someone's profit or private life.
