At this time, many babies are born in the world. Most of them have parents, but some of them do not have parents. That is, parents abandon their babies because they are poor and do not want to bring up their babies. In the pst, almost the only reason was because of poverty, but now those who desert babies, especially unmarried mothers, give up their babies for future happiness. So many babies and children are orphaned.
　　　 Most deserted babies go to orphanages. However orphanages do not have good environments. As far as I know, when orphans are young they do not have good educations. As they grow up, they fall into bad ways. Of course, some of them live well, but most them live with difficulty. It is difficult for them to work because most people have a prejudice against orphans. So they cannot have a lots of chances to find jobs.
　　　 Therefore, we have to make systems for orphans. One good way is adoption. Adoption has lots of advantages for many reasons. First, orphans can have parents and siblings. Adopted children can fell the affection of families. Moreover, they can have better environments than in an orphanage. Second, couples who cannot conceive can have a good to bring up a child. Therefore, adoption gives both the couple and an adopted child happiness. Another method depends on our government. The government must build good institutions for orphans as a national project. Furthermore, the government should not try to improve surroundings of orphanages.
　　　 Our country, Korea, sends babies abroad. I think that this is bad. Of course, they may have a better environment and education. However, I think that Koreans have to bring up Koreans. As adopted children grow up, they feel that they are foreigners abroad. This hurts them mentally. For example, one year ago I watched a man who was adopted when he was a newborn on TV. He wanted to find his family and finally found his mother were happy at first, but he could not speak Koran. So an interpreter had to help them. They could not say what was in their hears to each other. Therefore they became sad, and he had to go back to the U. S. A At that time I felt sad and thought that though they were mother and son externally, they were not real mother and son in their hearts.
　　　 Many Korean people think that adoption is not good. People in our country think that lineage is most important. So they do not want to adopt orphans. However, I think that the environment in which people live is more important than blood relations to people. People are creatures of circumstances. Therefore we must change our opinion.
　　　 I have heard that the proportion of Korean orphans adopted abroad is the highest in the world. Now, we have to think about deserted babies and children as a serious social problem. We have to think about why many people desert their babies and try to remove the causes. Hopefully, we must put away our prejudices about orphans. If we try harder, deserted children want ought to be our only concern. We must love deserted children like our own children.
