In our life, there are a lot of situations that involve drinking, for example, alumni meetings, birthdays and so on. However, we should not drive after drinking although the meetings are fun and important itself. The thought, "I can drive well because I didn't drink much," is very dangerous. Most people know that driving a car after drinking is never allowed. However, that is what we think before we drink. After drinking, the thought is changed. We all know that it is the worst thing.
　　　 First of all, drunk driving causes more dangerous traffic accidents than other accidents because drinking makes one's concentration drop and reactions slower. As a result, driving a car after drinking is at the risk of one's life. Large traffic accidents are almost always caused by drunk driving. For that reason, the courts in Korea penalize drunk driving rrigorously.
　　　 Even though police control drunk driving strictly, it has been increasing every year in Korea. In case of other countries, however, accidents caused by drunk driving have been decreased by 37% in Germany, 32% in Canada and 26% in the United States for recent three years. In contrast to Korea, that is a huge decrease. Some people boast proudly that they drove after drinking but avoided being caught by the police. What a foolish behavior! Drunk driving is a crime because accidents caused by it seriously damage the drivers and other people. Moreover, it leads families of victims to ruin.
　　　 Accidents caused by drunk driving give mental pain to the families of victims. Drunk driving is not only an individual matter, but also influences relatives and families. Besides, it gives the families and relatives severe distress, and drunk driving can deprive them of their right to happiness. If the head of a family is killed due to drunk driving, his family will have mental anguish. On the other hand, if a pedestrian is killed by a drunk driver, his family comes to lose one dear member due to the driver's mistake.
　　　 In Korea, the blood level of alcohol must not be over 0.1%. If someone's the blood level of alcohol is over 0.1%, his driving license is revoked. He is also fined 5 million won, and can't get a driver's license for two years. In case he cause an accident, he must go to jail. Nowadays, judgments of the courts say that nobody can get forgiveness for drunk driving. The standard is 0.1% of the blood level of alcohol. People who don't conform to it must be punished.
　　　 As you can see, the mistaken idea that a few drinks are no problem can deprive a family of happiness and can kill or hurt other people. Drunk driving should be eliminated quickly from our society. Accidents caused by drunk driving are tragic and are also the principle reasons for car accidents. Therefore, all drivers always have to choose between driving and drinking. The most important thing is that drivers have to know that driving a car after drinking is a terrible crime.
