I would like to be a public official. Especially, I want to be a police
officer. It is suitable to my aptitude and character, because I believe
that principles are important in everything. Moreover the job is stable.
And a police officer doesn't work for a private person. He works for the
nation. I think that it is a much more meaningful job that other jobs.
Of course, when I was a child, my dream was not to be a public official.
My dream was to be an athlete. Especially, I liked baseball, soccer and
tae-kwon-do. At one time, I wanted to be a comic book store's owner. My
parents wanted me to enter the Military Academy or to be a public official.
They said my character was suitable for the job of public officer. But
I didn't know that in those days.
When I was a teenager I like sports. And I usually played baseball and
soccer with my friends on the school ground every morning. And after school,
we played soccer or baseball games with neighborhood friends. I went to
a tae-kwon-do hall because my father wanted me to. He is a black-belt.
He told me that a man should protect himself. But I hated to go to a gymnasium
because I couldn't play with my friends. But I liked it later. It was very
interesting. I exercised hard. The coach praised me as a good athlete.
I decided to become a tae-kwon-do athlete. But I gave it up about one year
later, because the coach went to another gym. After that, I hated to go
to the hall of tae-kwon-do.
When I was in middle school I wanted to be a pro baseball player because
they were the most popular men in those days. Moreover I liked to play
baseball. Especially I respected Park Chul-Sun. And so, I played baseball
with my friends after school. I proposed to buy a baseball glove to my
mother. But she scolded me because my parents didn't want me to do exercise.
They especially wanted me to go to the Military Academy or succeed as a
scholar, because nobody entered a university at that time. And I hated
the job of a professional soldier then and to do studying. I thought that
a soldier had no freedom. For a while my father wanted me to become a boxer
because he liked boxing very much. Of course, I also liked it. We would
watch boxing all night. But I disliked becoming a boxer because it was
not a sport but only a fight.
When I was in high school I gave up becoming an athlete because most of
athletic life was miserable in the end. In their best days, they are loved
by everyone. But when they are old, if their play is bad, they are ignored
by their fans. One day, I saw a student who looked charming to me. And
so I decided to major in English. I wanted to speak English fluently as
the boy. At one time, after having seen the movie, La Boom, I fell in love
with Sophie Marceau. And so I decided to major in French. I had to enter
this university because of my religion (Dae-Sun-Jil-Ri-Hoe). But when I
entered Daejin University, our school did not have a department of French
literature, so I had to major in English literature. But I didn't regret
my selection. I only wanted to study foreign language. I didn't think about
how to use it.
But after I was discharged from the service, my dream took shape. When
I was in the army, I thought over my future job. Two years later, I must
get a job. Into the bargain, I was the oldest boy. I ought to serve my
parents. I needed a stable job. But I knew that the society was confused
through the newspaper. I thought that the job of public officer was the
most stable job. And I decided to be a public officer. Especially I wanted
to be a police official, because I knew that my character was adequate
because of my army life. My character is faithful about the matter given
to me and I have a strong sense of responsibility.
In the future, I will be a police officer. And so I want to take a role
in people's security and our nation's profit. Moreover the job is to work
for our nation. And it is proper for my character. I saw my character through
the army life. My character is suitable. Also I like it. And my parents
will be proud of me, the police officer.
