A Name that Gives Me Comfort

Choi Jee-Young was born in Namyangju City as the fourth of five children. She is about 164 centimeters tall and of medium build. She has brown hair, and now she wears her hair in a pony tail, but she always braided her hair and divided it into two pig tails in her school days. She has really curly hair, so not to be her curly hair ruffled, only she could grow her hair long enough to enable her braid it when all the other students were forced to cut their hair by school teachers. Her face is a little long, and she has freckles. She has double-edged eyelids, but they are an unmatched pair, so her curly hair and eyes are her complex. Sometimes she complains about those features, but she doesn't mind so much because she is positive and optimistic in everything. Generally she doesn't look so beautiful, but she looks healthy and vigorous.
I met her when I was in the first grade of middle school. One day, I didn't bring a handout to school that a science teacher had distributed to us in the last class. So I went to another class to borrow one from a friend. I couldn't borrow one easily though, because I didn't have many friends in the other class, and I was timid. Then someone came to me, and gave me the handout, asking, "Do you need this?"
"Yes..., I do," I answered with a little surprise at the unexpected stranger's question.
"Then, I have this lesson after your class, so please return it after your class period."
        "Thank you, I will."
So, I could take it to class, and I thought she was a very kind person. Of course, that girl was Jee-Young. Though our first meeting and conversation were short and simple like this, I could have a strong and good impression of her through that incident. Also, I could not only borrow the handout, but also have a good friend.
The next year, we met again as students in the same class, so we became friends. After that year. we never met in the same class, but we continued our friendship. I have had  many experiences with her, but above all, I remember one thing. When I was in the third grade of high school, I was late to school. Then, we had to go to school by 7 a.m. for self-study. So, my teacher punished me by making me stand in the hallway during study time for one hour; it was harder than corporal punishment. I felt ashamed and wanted to hide. Jee-Young was in my next class, so she threw a paper airplane to me through the front door. Unfortunately, my teacher saw it and took it away from me. When he picked it up, there was a note. Because he was playful, he read it in her class in a playful tone, so students laughed  listening to him. She had written this: "Your face looks so sad. Don't be sad. I am always with you, so cheer up. I love you." Though I was embarrassed, I was also happy and felt thankful to her.
In this way, we have made a lot of memories. Even when she had nothing interesting to say, I was happy only to be with her. Sometimes we shared our anguish such as about an entrance examination or a course. We sent a note to each other when we were discouraged about bad grades, or just when it came to mind, and it was a big comfort.
As she said, still, she is on my side. Now she majors in mathematics at Sookmyong Women's University. We can't meet often because we are both busy and our houses are not close. However, if one of us calls to meet even in the evening suddenly, we go out to meet soon. Then we enjoy talking like  school life and eating  food like a broiled dish of sliced rice cake, meat, eggs, seasoning, etc. I feel really fortunate that I met her. When I am with Jee-Young, I feel better than usual. She enjoys being with me and talking with me. Also, she has no hesitation saying I am beautiful and good, though I feel embarrassed when she says so. She is not only a good friend but also a great person. She is diligent enough to pay her school expenses alone by teaching students. Also, she is keen on learning. For example, recently she started to play the piano which she had hoped to do for a long time. She is kind and affable, so all my family like her. Jee-Young is and will always be my precious friend I love and admire.
