Introduction

A lot of people these days go to other countries to work or to have a new experience in their life.  It would be hard to spend days in a new country that has different culture, food, language, and living style from our own. While living there a lot of things would be difficult to do. It depends on the natives that we have around use. The kindness rate is different in each country. The natives in some countries think that foreigners who visit their country are very different from them. That is why they don't treat them the right way or as kindly as they treat their own country people. Since foreigner don't know the law and they don't know a lot about the country who do bad things to them. For examples, sometimes charge more money for goods and services than they should pay, treated them badly, tell lies and so they won't be able to do things right, and so on. Not all people think like this, of course but because of the few, a lot of foreigners get hurt. Since they get very homesick, it would be more harder to live somewhere that is very different from their oun country.
The natives should treat them as if they are their guest. Since it is their country they are the owners. When somebody comes to their home as a visitor they wouldn't treat them badly. They would probably treat them as comfortably as they could. Everybody should do that to the people who come to their country. Foreigners who visits our country are my visitors, and I should treat them like that. So we wanted to know how well foreigners who have visited different countries have been treated in our country (Korea) and in different countries. In this paper we will compare it by doing surveys to the people who have been abroad before, finding articles in the newspapers about the complaints, and surf into the Internet. We are going to do some research to find some good and bad experiences foreigners had during their stay in the country. After that we are going to have a survey to the foreigners and to the Korean who have visited a different country before.

Research

In The Korea Hearld we found out that a lot of people had a lot of complains while they stayed in Korea. There were bad manners that we shouldn't have shown them. I would like to give you some examples, A German who was visiting Seoul was grabbing a cab but he was asked for double because of his large baggage. He reported the case to a nearby policeman, who simple ignored his complaint. A French national couldn't find his way to the Lotte World amusement park from Chamsil subway station because there weren't any English signs to guide him there. An American had problems in the subway station because he didn't understand what the signs meant, for example, "Changhang Line" and "Yongdong Line"; therefor he could figure out were to go. A U. S. resident in Seoul drove a taxi home by himself after the driver got out of his car, refusing to take him to his destination. The American who reported himself to the police the next day said he ha lost his temper after being rejected by over 20 taxis. A Canadian, who was going to a friend's house, got in a taxi. The taxi driver drove around the block three times to increase the fare. She didn't know until she got home. On the way home it took less than half the time it took going to her friend's.
On the other hand there are also good things that the natives have done for the foreigners who have visited their country. A Korean who didn't know the foreigner would ran around with the foreigner to help him find the place he was looking for.  An American said that he misses Kim-chi more than the short mini skirted girls. He wanted to eat kimchi so much he went to LA. to find kimchi in Korean town. Going to LA. is too far to go everyday. He wants to know the recipe for making kimchi through e-mail. A thin black haired lady who visited a country on the west side of the globe told use an experience she had during her traveling. She was walking downtown window shopping to buy some gifts for her friends. Suddenly some one came near her and grab her purse and started to run. She shouted in her native language "Help! He took my purse!" while she was running and pointing to the man. Another man who was walking behind me started to run after the man who grabbed my purse. After a long chase he caught him and returned my purse to me. I wanted to thank the man who did a wonderful thing for me. But I couldn't because I didn't know how to say thank you in his native words. So now she is very kind to the foreigners who are in trouble. She paying back for the things she have received when she was a foreigner.

Survey results

We went to places where a lot of foreigners were like Insa-dong, Schools, and so on to take surveys to 20 foreigners in Korea and 20 Koreans who has been aboard before for traveling or for business. We wanted to know how the natives treated the foreigners visiting their country”Ŗhow well they treated them and how comfortable they were stayed in the other country. We wanted to know what the big problems were and what was good about staying and doing their work in the different country. The surveys we took are attached to the back. We would like to tell you how it came out.

Discussion about Our Paper

After doing a survey and finding research about life in a foreign country we learned a lot of things. A lot was different from the Korean's life and other countries. Of course, it might be because of the different culture and lifestyle. We would like to tell you some things we have found out.
First, we would like to tell you about the different things we have found out. The reason people are going abroad to a different countries are Korean's mostly go for studying or for traveling to have a new experience, and foreigners go to make money. The time of visiting  other countries are different too. Korean's go for about only one or two times, other foreigners go for about four to five times. A lot of have came to Korea a few time since their first visit. Korean's first impression to the foreigners are very cold. Before you get to know the person they are not so kind to you. But after you get to know them they can be the kindest person you know. Foreigners first impression to Korean's are always about the same, they are always kind. There are custom differences. If we compare it with Korea. Only 50% is different from the United States and Europe. You might have thought that there would be nothing in common since they are on the other side of the globe, but there more things in common than you might have thought of. Like the hobbies people have, drinking style, the kind of jobs, wanting to live well, and so on.. On the other hand, in Africa and other countries close to the equator there isn't much in common. You could probably say nothing. Of course the Asian countries have about 80-90% in common. The things they like to enjoy are different. Korean's like to sing and hear other people sing songs, but other countries on the west side like to dance instead of singing.  Now I would like to tell you about the common things we have found out. The pollution is all over the world. Since factories are all over and they have to give out smoke to make things humans need. The air pollution is everywhere. Also you can see a lot of trash on the streets, instead of garbage cans. People are selfish when there are a lot of people. They are rude in crowds and most people don't know how to say "I am sorry" or 'excuse me" when you bump into a person. The hobbies are mostly the same. That means people all over the world are enjoying the same sports. Except for the traditional sports.
The difference of the culture and lifestyle the language and food it makes people different from each other. We should try to understand the difference between each other. Since we haven't been to their country we don't know their customs and lifestyle we should not treat them badly or criticise their culture and tradition. We will have to know how to understand them for who they are. Having an open mind is a good start. On the other hand, you can see people caring for the other if or not they are their native. Being kind and caring
