My Childhood
By Kwon Yong-Sang

I remember swimming with my friends in the pond.
Though I was poor at it, I used to swim a long distance.
When night was coming on, we left for home.
Stars smiled brightly and shook hands with me.
Alone, the moon shone the way, and we sang a song.

A Rainy Day
By Kwon Yong-Sang

I remember when I went to high school.
That day, it was raining, and the class wasn't interesting.
The wind whispered to me to go out of the classroom.
When I saw the window, also the teacher saw me.
That day, I had to clean up the classroom.

Memories of Last Summer
By Kim Hee-Nam

I remember the beach last summer
playing baseball with my friends.
I remember that I was swimming in a blue sea
picking up shells in the water.
I remember the horizon
which the sailboats went through between sea and sky.

When I Served in the Army
By Kim Hee-Nam

I remember drinking with my friends
before I entered the army
and saying good-bye to my mother.
I remember the tears in my mother's eyes
the day when I entered the army
that made me cry.
I remember her sad face which
was expecting her son's echelon.

The Mountain
By Kim Young Hun

I remember the small mountain,
like a water color painting.
The mountain gave fruit to me,
like sun in the morning.
I felt warm in the mountain,
like my mother's heart.
But most of all I remember
the change of color of the mountain,
like changing clothes.

The School
By Kim Young Hun

I remember playing soccer on the playground,
I remember studying hard in the classroom,
I remember eating lunch with each other,
But most of all,
I remember the friendship that my friend gave me.

My Father
By Yin Yong Mei

I remember my father made the room warm on a winter's morning.
Everyday he studied until midnight although
he was more than fifty years old.
On weekends we watched TV or talked about the same subject together.
I remember he told me jokes about our nation and politics forever.
I learned from him to live with the idea
that a successful life is doing my best in whatever job I do.
But most of all I remember his hope for me to come to Korea.

Remembrance
By Lee Seung-Tae

I remember that in my childhood I went out to play.
Then I was as happy as a king.
I idled away my time with friends and frogs croaked . . .
But most of all I remember the green mountains and fields.
