Course Description: This course
offers advanced students hands-on experience with writing and producing
shorter-form texts for electronic media. Comparative forms perspectives
of writing for such media will be studied, and the creation of projects
will include generating ideas, writing proposals, research and development
of topics, planning, and employing the stylistic conventions of professional
writers in the field. Students learn the distinctive competencies of writing
for electronic media, and of working from concepts to actual production.

Course Objectives:

To introduce students to the basic technical
aspects of writing for electronic media and publishing online.

To encourage the development of the
critical reading and thinking skills necessary to analyze and evaluate
materials written for electronic media objectively.

To practice and develop skills
and techniques relevant to writing for electronic media.

To heighten the students' awareness
of the complexities of writing for the various types of audiences addressed
by electronic media.

To assist students in the planning,
organization, and development of a series of writing projects related to
their majors and areas of interest using electronic media.
