Choose an article related to your proposed research topic to critique. The article should be a fairly recent journal, magazine, or newspaper article (not a book, book chapter, or Web site) that you might use as a primary source for your research paper.

• Your essay should include all five sections of a critique discussed on page 58 of your textbook. Each section should be at least one paragraph long. (The analysis and response sections will probably be longer than one paragraph.) Do not combine any of the sections in this essay. That is, you should have a separate paragraph (or paragraphs) for introduction, summary, analysis of the presentation, your response to the presentation, and conclusion.
• Your essay must be typed, double-spaced, on white A4 paper, using 12-point Times New Roman font (or something similar in size). It must be 2-4 pages long.
• You must hand in a copy of the entire article neatly photocopied on A4 paper along with your first draft. Please do not hand in the original article.
• I will ask you to write two drafts of the essay. Only the final draft will be graded, but I will consider both drafts in the final grade. Your essay will be graded on organization, development, clarity, and mechanics, as well as content.
• The first draft is due at the beginning of class on Saturday, October 20. Please bring two copies of your essay to class next Saturday. We will use one copy for peer editing in class.
