A Plum Tree in the Snow

By Yun Yongbin

Translated by Rodney E. Tyson & Hong Eun-Taek

Presented by the poet at the XXII World Congress of Poets, 2002.

Your haggard fingers
Must be so stiff from the cold

As every joint has frozen and burst
And is knotted with blood

If a spring breeze
Would blow readily
Perhaps you could unfold your frozen hands.
