        This paper presents the results of a study of student attitudes toward a number of "process-oriented" techniques used in academic writing classes at a major university in South Korea. Data from questionnaires, student reflective writing, and ethnographic description suggest that some of these techniques, including multiple drafts, "publication" of students' work, and instructor comments focusing on content and organization seemed to help students produce better compositions as well as increase motivation and confidence. The paper concludes with practical suggestions for incorporating these techniques into EFL writing classes.
