Grapes and a Path

By Oh Kyu Won

Translated by Rodney E. Tyson & Hong Eun-Taek

The Quarterly Review: Poetry & Criticism, 4(4), p. 247. Winter 2001.

Dry leaves roll their bodies together, grapes
Push their bodies together, and become globular

Bunches of early ripened grapes cling to the outside of the vine path
And go dark from rot

Bunches of rotten grapes and beneath the bunches
A ruined, crushed, decomposing, sweet path
