Love of Arisu*

By Shin Dal Ja

Translated by Rodney E. Tyson & Hong Eun-Taek

The Quarterly Review: Poetry & Criticism, 2(4), 73. Winter 1999.

The blue sky came down
And spread over the blue skin
Each morning the blue river was born
And echoed its thousand-year life

It embraced the setting suns and moons against its bosom
The misfortunes of history filled its body
Arisu! Ah Arisu!
Once again
A blue woman pregnant with a new millennium
